‘Amplifying Voices’

A collaboration with Madhubani artist, Avinash Karn at Azim Premji University campus.
Their artwork is inspired by the story of women’s empowerment in India represented by themes like the Chipko Movement and women-led panchayats. Underpinning these visuals is the spirit of Gandhian Directive Principles of State Policy: The canvas is strewn with vignettes that underscore constitutional provisions to empower women and strengthen their identity in society, As Madhubani art has been historically dominated by women, the artists tell their story through women protagonists, unfolding the metaphors through textures and patterns inspired by both traditional and contemporary styles.
