Azim Premji Foundation, Bangalore
Art and Culture function
Consultant - Art curator, Co-ordinator
My role in the Arts and Culture programme at Azim Premji Foundation is to create spaces for meaningful discussions through visual storytelling. The murals we’ve worked on explore themes like constitutional values, DPSP, how a common person engages with these ideas, collective identity, and stories of individuals or communities making a positive impact on the environment.
The Foundation launched its Arts and Culture programme in 2020 as a visual aesthetics initiative for its campuses, and my role was to curate multiple art projects under the Arts and Culture function. Over the years, this has grown into a much larger responsibility with a wider audience. Today, I work with artists to create contextual art across the Foundation’s spaces, including university campuses, schools, district institutes, and health centres across the country.
Curatorial Approach for Educational spaces
I see art as a quiet force—one that draws people in, stirs conversations, and even inspires action. Through murals, installations, prints, and other visual forms, we create spaces where communities connect and where social and political questions find a voice.
I believe that art, when shaped with care and intention, has the power to spark change. It brings people together, weaving shared experiences and collective knowledge. With a young, impressionable, and ever-curious audience, art becomes a way to open conversations rather than dictate answers. Artists are encouraged to ask questions rather than make statements—to create spaces where ideas can unfold, perspectives can shift, and dialogue can take shape.
Working with multiple stakeholders—students, faculty, artists, administration, and vendors has been about holding space for different expectations while staying true to my own. It’s a constant negotiation, finding common ground without losing my footing.
As part of this initiative, I’ve worked on several mural projects over the years. Beyond their visual appeal, the murals at the Bangalore campus have become a backdrop for many conversations. Collaborating with both contemporary and traditional artists, we’ve transformed nearly 30,000 square feet of wall space into something that is both aesthetically and conceptually meaningful for students. These murals invite the audience to pause, reflect, and engage—with constitutional values, grassroots democracy, and the rich diversity of this country.
Currently working on creating public art projects, processes and budget for the Art and Culture function at the foundation.
